Person-centered therapy in Asheville

For couples and individuals seeking depth in their relationships and healing in their community.

Rebuilding, reconnecting

There are moments in life when we find ourselves grappling. What once came easily may now feel clouded by anxiety, self-doubt, or disconnection. Our relationships may grow strained, and the challenges we face—as individuals, as families, and as a community—can feel heavier than ever.  Especially in today’s modern world.

When we focus on understanding and nurturing ourselves, we have tremendous capacity to transform our communities. If you’re looking for support as you navigate this journey, I’d love to help. Through our sessions, you’ll develop self-understanding and build connections that bring authenticity to your life and relationships.

I’m Kassidy Loy

An individual and couples therapist based in Asheville, North Carolina. Guided by humanistic, person-centered, and psychodynamic approaches, I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Dialectical Therapy to help you navigate whatever it is you’re going through.

My work as a counselor is deeply connected to my personal values of community and social justice. My practice understands that over time, historically and generationally, oppressive systems and parts of our culture have fractured us from ourselves, our families, our most valued and intimate relationships, and thus our communities. Because of this, the suffering we experience individually is also connected to the suffering we experience collectively. This can leave us feeling disempowered and without agency.

I believe that when we work to repair ourselves, it spreads outward and is a part of the important work necessary to heal our communities.

I received my Master of Counseling in Interpersonal Dialogue from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland in 2012 after teaching in underserved public schools in Brooklyn and the Bronx for more than a decade as a teaching fellow.

How We Can Work Together

  • Individual Therapy

Regardless of our phase in life, we may face unexpected obstacles or notice old patterns cropping up again. Individual Therapy provides a safe space for you to explore what is blocking you from relational connection, your desires, and living your values. Together, we will work to build an awareness and a practice that unlocks new ways of being.

  • Couples Therapy

At the root of most relational issues is a loss of emotional safety. During couples sessions, you’ll be guided to understand the negative cycles that develop and gain insight into why this happens. Through this process, you will build a deeper understanding of each other's needs and desires, foster trust, gain mutual respect, and communicate openly and responsively.

  • Parental Coaching

Parenting can bring up some of our deepest insecurities, challenging our sense of confidence and control. Through Parental Coaching, you’ll access supportive space to explore these feelings and develop strategies to navigate the challenges of raising children. We’ll work on communication, boundary-setting, and fostering a nurturing environment that builds trust with your children.
